If you powered off your device yourself or the device's battery is completely drained, the Suica cannot be used. If your device becomes unusable while traveling (before exiting the gate), please inform the station gate staff and follow the steps below. As this is not caused by a Suica malfunction, you will need to pay the fare with cash.
Steps
1. Settle the fare from the boarding station in cash.
2. Afterward, turn the device back on and inform gate staff to delete gate entry data (*This will not use any of your remaining charge balance).
For devices with a backup power feature, your Suica can still be used for a limited time if it is set as an Express Transit card (https://apfaq.mobilesuica.com/faq/show/6889?site_domain=wsm), even when the device powers down due to low battery. However, this function is unavailable if you turn off the power to your device yourself. If your device powers down due to low battery during travel, charge your phone and power the device back on. The record of your entry through the ticket gate will remain, so you can continue to pass through the automated ticket gates.
